Artist History
This band started as a duo with Jeffrey Normal and MAGICK in 1983 writing poetry in Mexico. After helping to build a beautiful studio in the lower Haight they began recording "Return to Normalcy" with James Johnson (Lions Gate,Motown) producing an expanded ensemble that included many San Francisco veterans including Doni Harvey on guitar (Automatic Man,Caribbean All-Stars,Sadao Watanabe), Lorn Leber on guitar (Jerry Garcia Band), Nate Ginsberg on keyboards(Herbie Hancock, Todd Rundgren), Clint Swank, Jordan Amarantha on congas(Diga Rhythm Band)and Eric Mosbarger on drums (John Lee Hooker). The album was released on Aiwass Records in 1985 and included the college radio charter "Temple of Love" and was well reviewed in Option Magazine-"fiery urban funk grooves" Dec. 1985 and many other indie publications and now sells in the neighborhood of $50 US.Their second recording began production in 1986 and was released in 1988, the groundbreaking "Earth Days and Astral Nights" incorporating far eastern sounds, spokenword, Doni Harveys end of the world guitar, and a whole lotta funk this LP took these new sounds as far as they could go and left them to the followers. The band again became a duo (electric bass w/effects and poetry) and they performed at Lollapalooza and recorded one more LP (unreleased) before breaking up in 1993. |
