    Artist History
dePresleys' main men, Jon Ravneng and Geir Weggersen have been collaborating on many musical projects in Norway and the US since the early 90s. After several publishing deals, and US recording sessions with Bob Marlette (Wilson-Philips, Journey) and Tom Whitlock (Giorgio Moroder, Bob Dylan), these good friends became dePresleys. They wrote and recorded "Flying Free" featured in TV's "Melrose Place" and the made-for-TV movie "A Matter Of Justice" starring Martin Sheen and Patty Duke. Early versions of dePresleys' songs "Streets Of Napalm" and "Operator" soon appeared on the US released "Hot Tracks From Scandinavia" (Nightbeat). Airplay caught the attention of notable L.A. producer/engineer Paul D. Carlsen (Nirvana; Gregg Allman; The Doors; Nightranger, many feature film mixes, and more). Carlsen brought dePresleys and their multi-track demos to his state-of-the-art 128 track digital film sound-design studio, Apparatus, in Topanga Canyon. Such a unique creative relationship developed between them that the band asked Carlsen to become a virtual "member" of dePresleys. The team began recording tracks from dePresleys' awesome 300+ song catalogue, and accepted volunteers for their live band, including some of the finest session players around:· Drummer Rick Shlosser, (Boz Scaggs; Van Morrison; Cher; John Mellancamp; Etta James; Rod Stewart; Little Feat; Air Supply; Joan Baez; Diana Ross; Planet Drum the Commodores etc.) Rick will be out on loan to Mickey Harts "Planet Drum" for a series of summer concerts. · Flute, Pipes and Reed-man Richard Hardy, (Dave Matthew's; Lyle Lovett; Carole King; James Taylor; The Neville Bros., ∓ Stevie Ray Vaughn ) · Percussionist: Blake Unangst, (Joan Osbourne; Spin Doctors; Blues Traveler) appears on some DePresley's recordings. Daveed Estrada has replaced Unangst in the current performing line-up. Swedish session keyboardist Claes Nystrom plays on a couple of tracks, bassist Bobby Tsukamoto also appears on several of the recordings, as does bassist Jaime Scher. NOW . · The team has completed the "Leaking Blue" CD for a limited US pre-release pressing via retail and email-order, on dePresleys Records. · dePresleys.com is up and running. The first four songs of the new CD are available as free downloads until August 30th at the site. After that, each month a song from their vast recorded catalogue will be available as a free MP3 file. In addition, each of the first one million "Leaking Blue" CDs sold will entitle the buyer to a free download of an EP culled from dePresleys 1999 European targeted "Kumputika". · Also in the fire is a co-publishing deal for dePresleys Music. The group's instinctive ability to instantly compose very visual and moving soundscapes as well as memorable melodies make them a natural to continue in the TV, Advert, and Film music fields. Teamed with Carlsen, who has more than 50 feature mixes under his belt; and the massive digital storage, fully automated 5.1 mix capabilities of Apparatus, this production unit is un-stoppable. · During their May 2000 stay in Los Angeles the group taped a cable TV performance, was by MTV VJ, Nina Blackwood , and for the cable access show "Rock Vault" and started work on an EPK featuring video clips and excerpts of the interviews which will be included on the new CD. Their so far un-named "concept" third CD is already in production.© 2000 dePresleys. All Rights Reserved.

dePresleys - Leaking Blue Amazing music and great vocals on an electronica album is not usually expected, but that's what you get here. No, the vocals are not covered up by electronic effects, nor is the music so techno that is ends up becoming boring. This is real music. I would call it more of an electronic progressive pop style than anything. The programing is masterful and the vocals are excellent. It doesn't stop there though. dePresleys push the envelope of songwriting and have created a collection of songs that provide intelligent lyrics and amazing arrangements. You can tell right away that this music wasn't made overnight. A lot of thought, soul and skill went into this, and it was all worth it on this end. Great Music!
