Personal Musical Thinking: Living in India until the age of 8 and then growing up in the USA has allowed me the opportunity to develop a pretty unique & eclectic musical outlook. My “western” musical influences were a result of studying and performing Classical and American music (rock, blues, jazz & country). As a kid, I was also exposed to and performed Indian music in musical theater. After paying dues fiddling in a popular local country rock band Desperate Men, I was persuaded to “formalize” my musical education. At Berklee College of Music in Boston I played in new classical and post-fusion jazz projects on one end, while on the other, supported myself playing in an Irish/country band! Through it all I kept writing and discovered that the best songs universally contain at least one element you can’t forget: an infectious melody, beat or groove. This is what keeps folks humming, whistling, tapping their toes, drumming their fingers and listening repeatedly. This is why the best music can be covered in several convincing styles over time. And this is what keeps me writing and performing.

    Press Reviews
Sample Reviews of Recording & Performance: “Due to the diversity of lead guitar/violinist Ranjeet Saxena, their sound stands on it’s own two feet!” Keith “MuzikMan” Hannaleck – www.MusicDish.com, (reviewing “Yesterday’s Future by D. Saxmo) “…the band hits its stride with Saxena slicing into his violin and (guitar grooving)…proving the blues has many faces!” Bryan Baker, www.Gajoob.com (reviewing “Yesterday’s Future” by D. Saxmo) “'Rock & Roll' is the track where things start coming together, cause this is when Ranjeet Saxena (also the guitar man) comes in with his violin.” Ben Ohmart, www.MusicDish.com (reviewing “Yesterday’s Future” by D. Saxmo) “Ranjeet Saxena on guitar and violin carries the band with string work. His Indian heritage comes through on violin on Rock and Roll as he coaxes traditional Middle Eastern/Indian sounds. The effect in the song is startling. This is the best example of the band trying to shake up the listener with some blends of styles that would normally not be joined. The fact that it works and works so well is a tribute to the band!” Ben Baker, www.Indie-Music.com (reviewing “Yesterday’s Future” by D. Saxmo) “…a fiery blend of Appalachian fiddle & mandolin!” www.El.net (reviewing Big Iron Skillet at The Bitter End, NYC) Sample Reviews of D. SAXMO – principal band: “A home run, with pro playing and lyrical content…you go D. Saxmo!” Ben Ohmart, www.MusicDish.com “The greatest and worst thing, at the same time, about Indie Music is (that) artists control the work. This has given the world some great, some good and some bad efforts. D. Saxmo falls squarely into the excellent category!” Ben Baker, www.Indie-Music.com “D. Saxmo is definitely a band that you will not forget once you hear the music that they create. The power of the awe-inspiring musical skills of this band is more than enough to keep me hanging on, but it doesn't stop there. The songwriting and vocal power behind this trio is the perfect match for this band’s amazing sound, but it doesn't stop there either. The overall energy and musical brilliance of this band is definitely the icing on the proverbial cake!” Michael Allison, President – www.TheGlobalMuse.com
