Artist History
In the spring of 1997 John McLoughlin and Brooke Parkhurst met Rowan Corbett at a festival in Atlanta, GA. After much mutual admiration, they began experimenting with the possibilities that a trio could afford. They left that festival vowing that if anything should change they should join forces. The following year found Rowan a free agent and Tinsmith was born.

Group Members
Brooke Parkhurst, singer and tunesmith, graces the band with the eleganceof her vocal experise. An accomplished musician, she also adds her skills on the banjo, guitar and Irish whistle. Her capacity to create melodic lines is the force behind theoriginal works that the band has brought forth.John McLoughlin, guitarist, bodhran player, and poet, brings his unusual tunings, polyrhythmic sensibilities, and often bizarre sense of humor to the bands interpretations of traditional and original folk music. Having studied guitar with Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft, and classical composition and theory in his under-graduate studies, John lends the band a unique perspective.Rowan Corbett, guitarist, bones player, and singer, presents his incredibly visceralphysical presence in the band's live performance. He began his musical studies inclassical voice. His efforts and versatility led him to become a founding member of the a capella doo-wop group Inflatable Misconceptions. Rowan spent time honing hisskills with the band Greencastle, a Renaissance Festival staple. Now one of thecountry's premier bones players and an excellent guitarist and singer, Rowan brings his energetic style to the band. |
