Artist History
You might have heard me already... Through most of the 1970s, I was a news reporter in Houston; my reports on US space flights and other events were often heard nationwide on ABC Radio. In the late '70s and early '80s, I played pedal steel guitar in country bands. You might have heard me in the Mustang Band; we traveled from Atlanta to Boston to San Francisco to Los Angeles. In the mid-80s, I was half of a duo called JJ Balance-- probably the only duo in the history of the world to feature two pedal steel guitar players. In the late 80s and early 90s, you might have heard me as a one-person band on Houston's North Side-- most likely at the legendary Hog's Breath Saloon. In the mid-90s, I might have served you a beer, cooked you a Hog Burger, or played you a song from behind the Hog's Breath's bar. In recent years, you might have heard excerpts of some of my songs at Troubador Tech, my Web site devoted to the art and craft of the one-person band (http://jpsongs.com/troubadortech/). Or you may have heard my MIDI music, and seen my graphics, at Symmetries by Syrynx (http://jpsongs.com/symmetries/). |

Press Reviews
I had a suit pressed at a dry cleaning establishment on Westheimer in Houston, about 1978. They did a very nice job. |
