Artist History
envywaits is a DC acoustic rock/pop duo that has undergone many incarnations since its inception. Formerly known as Hughes & Dixon, then Opus Jones, it began when its founders Patrick Hughes and Marc Dixon got their start as a metro area acoustic act that first teamed up in January of 1996. Dixon, being a songwriter of a few guitar chords, realized his limitations and placed an ad in the DC City Paper seeking an accomplished guitar player. Hughes responded, and the two agreed to meet. After several beers and a few hours of trading musical philosophies, the two decided to combine their strengths; Hughes being instrumentation, and Dixon's being vocals and songwriting, creating their own special acoustic sound that some have said, borders between acoustic rock and progressive folk. The group has seen many line-up changes over the years. Former members: vocalist - Kara Figg, Guitarists - Paul Gonzalez, John Mancuso and Paul Graziano. ...And then there were two. |
