    Artist History
Damen "St. Demon" Perry (producer/engineer) started working on demos back in 1999 right after graduating from a Recording Engineer Program at the prestigious Los Angeles Recording Workshop in N. Hollywood. Unfortuantely around the same time he was dealing with a lot of personal issues so he moved to Huntington Beach, CA to get away from it all. Struggling to overcome a serious bout with depression as well as dealing with his other "demons" he worked on songs to capture his feelings, emotions and simply to stay focused on something other than his problems at the time. People around him started encouraging his music and within a few weeks strangers were knocking on his door asking if they could hear his "crazy new music," consisting of hip-hop and goth-metal. After one of his closest friends convinced him to really take his music seriously and to let everyone hear it, What Remainz was born. As Demon's health started to decline rapidly he was urged by family and friends to move back home and seek treatment. It was during this time that Demon learned how to build web pages and where he discovered that he could spread the word about his music project, What Remainz via the internet. Fans started coming to the site and downloading the songs like crazy. Demon tried assembling a band to back him, but that fell apart quickly due to his bandmates lack of ambition and Demon's deteriorated health status. Demon decided to focus on marketing his debut cd, "Beyond the Gate: Genesis 51" wherever he could but there was one problem. He never intended those old demos made on his 4 track to become a cd, so he didn't pay that much attention to the recording instead focusing on just getting his songs to tape. It was obviously time for some new material and some new gear. Demon worked at a few recording studios during those days and once he saved up enough money to buy the gear he wanted he quit working for the big studios and decided to work from his own studio, St. Demon's Tomb. Another reason why he quit the studios was that he felt that he was spending too much time working on other band's projects (Wu Tang Clan, Sx10, Motley Crue, Layzie Bone, just to name a few) and not enough time working on his own music. During this time he finally got back on track mentally and physically and survived his bout with depression that lasted for 3 years. Wanting to collaborate, Demon put an ad in a local magazine for a guitarist and within a few days he met up with Masa, a guitarist from Japan with dreams of hitting it big in the US. The two began working on songs in November of 2002. In May 2003 Demon decided that the music they were working on was something new unto itself. The music they created was a mixture of Masa's heavy metal influences and Demon's gothic hip-hop style. All in all it was a "heavy metal" cd, that was the birth of HaloSik (Demon & Masa's metal band). Now that the HaloSik cd, "The Rise of Apollyon" is finished (recorded, mixed and produced by Demon at St. Demon's Tomb) Demon is aiming to have a new WR cd finished by Halloween that fully captures the vision he has for What Remainz. In July-August 2003 Demon will also launch his music production company, Beyond the Gate Productions that will focus on music & art production, artist development and a project recording studio.
