Artist History Two hardcorefreaks in the middle of Skellefteå, Samuel Lindberg and Johan Norström met each other through the Internet [although they nearly were neighbours!] in August of '98 and made really good friends. After only a short while they decided they wanted to form a hardcore/metal band influed by bands like Purusam and Refused. Johan, who most recently had started studying Media at Anderstorpskolan in Skellefteå and ended up in the same class as Stefan Dahlqvist earlier active in old skellefteå hardcorebands like Distance, and for a while also TJM. Johan asked Stefan if he would care to join the little project along with their other classmate Nils Larsson, guitarist since a few years back. And they did. They were now four, Johan himself doing the vocals, Samuel playing the drums and Stefan and Nils playing the guitars. Apparently, someone was missing. Johan all of the sudden remembered an old classmate from 7th to 9th grade, Anna Philipsson, who had proven to like Purusam in an earlier state. So the band was complete, and they started to rehearse under the name Medieval.But nothing lasts forever, not even for a month. Stefan had to drop out of the band due to his lack of time and after a while Anna to had to concentrate on other things. Nils, Johan and Samuel kept on rehearsing and did not loose hope.Yet again the sun rose when Per Boström, also studying media only not in the same class as Nils and Johan, got in contact with the band and joined up. He also had a friend to play the bass, Peter Boman. Unfortunately Per left the band and Peter started playing the guitar instead. But no bad without any good in it, Johannes Parbring, a skillful bassplayer got to know Johan through other mutual interests and tried out to play with the band, and only a week after Johannes joined the band the first show was held in Skellefteås landsförsamling, a show arranged by EFS. At this point the band had altered their name from Medieval to Thurisaz.Things started to move and Johan did not at all get along with Peter, in the end it went so far that Johan gave Peter a choice, neither he'd go himself nor Peter would. And Peter left the band. This was about october '99 and after that the band took a long break.Not until February '00 things started to happen, Samuel grabbed the guitar instead of the drums and got his friend through Skellefteå Symphonic Band to play drums, Sebastian Fahlgren. Thurisaz did a few shows with this setting, when they thought they wanted to do something different. So the band got in touch with skillful guitarist Cristoffer Strand to take position as third guitarist. Only the future can tell where that will lead them...
