Artist History
Started some time in 1996 when Ryan Anderson and Tyson met in Algebra II at Villa Park High School. Tyson's friend Brandon started played drums for the first few months. Our first show was on Haloween of 1996 with Armistice and the Chickenheads in a garage. We played 3 original songs, and attempted to cover both Metallica and Guns n Roses. Someone said we sounded like Earth Crisis. Soon after that, Brandon quit, which was definetely for the better. We (Brandon and myself, Tyson) later collaborated in the Filthy Pigs. After a few weeks, we recruited wiz-kid Cris Cordero on drums. I think Cris was 14 at that point, and had already played various instruments in about 5 different bands. We played shows with Final Conflict and some other unnotable bands under this lineup. We headed into Rusty's Garage to record in the winter of 1997. Rusty played (plays) in Treadwell, le Shok, and a few others, and was a totally fun guy to work with. I was 16, Ryan was 17, and Cris was I think 14 or something. We should have waited another few months to record, because we didn't know what the hell we were doing. We literally put together some of the songs as we went along. I'm honestly surprised it came out this well. At one point you can hear me stop playing bass because I had no idea how to play that particular part. We decided to release 4 songs on a 7" that Ryan was going to put out on his label Holy Weapon Of Peace, and save the other four for comps or splits. Those comps or splits never happened. A few months later, we decided it would be best for the band if Ryan moved to just vocals, Cris went from drums to guitar, and if we got this guy Troy on drums. Cris knew Troy from their band Doomed Society, which was basically a more punk version of Taken. With Troy as drummer, we played with Enewetak, Submission Hold, Final Conflict, Living War Room, Suicide Nation, and some other folks. We even did a super-mini tour up to the Bay Area with Living War Room and Jeromes Dream, with whom we were supposed to do a 3-way split cd. When we got back, our friend Josh from Doomed Society started playing second guitar. We wrote some more songs and played a show with Ex Fork at the PCH. A couple weeks later, Troy called up and said he had to quit to focus on Taken and because he didn't agree with our lyrical content. Over the past few years, Ryan and I have made half-assed attempts at starting again, but it will never happen. Not as Los Chupacabras. Troy plays in Taken and Bleeding Through. Cris plays in 46 Short and Joe And The Chickenheads. Ryan plays in Gods Iron Tooth and was in a band called Seppukku for a while. I continued with Filthy Pigs for a while, then started a band called Burning Bridges with Cris and Josh, then played in Nemirah for a while, now I'm solo. Thank you. |

Press Reviews
Some nerd at buddyhead.com said we were the best "grind-core" band in Orange County. Other than that, we were never formally reviewed. Rob Prevail did say that we kicked ass though. |
