Artist description
A 5 piece band from the Bay Area suburbs, Buddy Wackit fronts heavy riff-rock guitarlicks with a strong percussion section to createa musical flavor that is original and heart-felt.Sometimes goofy, always intense, Wackit combines a perfect mixture of rock fundamentals with cutting edge sound to produce a sonic palate ranging from songs you can tap your feet to, to songs that make you want to plow into the nearest mosh pit. Nabil, the rhythm guitarist and only ethnic minority in the band had this to say, “I like Buddy Wackit. We all have very different styles, but can all play to the genre that presents itself in each song. I hope this band takes off. I’m really just looking to make enough money to get out of this fucking country, and getback to Pakistan. I hate American trash.” When John, the band's drummer was approached about the band and Nabil’s coarse political agenda, he told us that he had nothing to say about the band. When prodded further he threw his drumsticks at us,and claimed that he once killed a man. Scarry. Brian, however, the bands lead guitarist was far less abrasive, and in fact, showed no resistance to the interview at all, because, he was in fact passed out on the floor. A beer in one hand and what could only be assumed to be a crack pipe and a court order in the other. Quite a caracter that Brian! Damon, the lead vocalist was warm and inviting, and when asked what his plans where if Buddy Wackit ever took off; he had this to say, “Well, thanks for asking. If the band takes off, the first thing I’d do is replace all the other band members with a group or highly skilled monkey musicians…wait… I’ve said too much.” He then proceeded to run from the room, screaming obscenities, and other nonsense. Not all the band members, however have distinct plans for Wackit’s future. When approached, Brendon, the bass player, claimed to know nothing about the band at all, and just stood there with a curious look on his face. “You must have the wrong guy.” He said. He did, however, give us a flyer to a show he is playing with a band he delightfully referred to as “Iron Ass.” “Iron Ass is huge.” Brendon claimed emphatically,“We’ve been asked several times to perform for the President and First Lady, but had to turn them down.”When asked why the band turned down such an offer Brendon said nothing, but motioned towards a patch of the communist flag on his shirt. He winked a couple times, and it was understood what he meant. Weather it's violence, drug use, or right wing propaganda that your pushing, Buddy Wackit and the Magic 5 is sure to have a tune that fits your fancy. And as Brian, the lead guitarist likes to say "Fuck it, Nabil you're out of the band!" |
