    Artist History
1962. - It was during the rush hour at Dartford railway station on a platform packed with City men on their way to work and secretaries in Spring dresses. Eighteen year old Mick was waiting for a train to London where he was studying politics and economics; Keith was on en-route to Sidcup School of Art, and under his arm - where everyone could see it - was a Chuck Berry album that he'd had specially imported from Chess Studios in Chicago. The L.P. sleeve caught Jagger's attention, and they started talking ------------ ...... a likely story. ------------ 6th July 1957. a bunch of sixteen years olds in a skiffle group called the Quarrymen were performing at a Saturday evening fete, St. Peter's Church, Woolton. A young kid was introduced to the lead singer in the band. Nearly two years his future partner's junior, McCartney impressed Lennon with his knowledge of chords, obscure rock'n'roll lyrics, and the correct way of tuning a guitar. ------------ History in the making ... ------------ February 1947. "I was ushered into the front room by a careful relative and told to remain silent. I peered around the bedpost and saw my mother holding this purple faced newly born brother in her arms". So it was that Ray met his future lead guitarist, David Russell Davies. ------------ and of course we all know that Supergrass were younger still when they first met ... ------------ Even the Spice Girls and the Monkees have convinced themselves, if not the world, that the diceman of fate brought their special brand of magic into being. ------------ October the 15th, 1994, vocalist Liz spent all day sitting on platform two, Didcot Parkway, with a copy of "Advanced Macramé" ostentatiously under her arm. Rifling casually through the second hand suits in the Cowley Road Oxfam shop, bass player Alan failed to notice her. Meanwhile Pete brushed his best cords hoping to impress lead guitarist Mark, who at that moment, sat totally unaware, in a stationary queue of traffic on the M25. ------------ Things could have been so different. Chance plays such a major role in everything ... ------------ "The essence of the confrontation between straight society and the counterculture is the clash between logical/literal and intuitive/lateral thinking. The central thought is the idea of disarming straight certainties by means of 'aleatory' procedures, whilst ensuring that relativism is not allowed to escalate towards chaos" ------------ ....and now, read on.
