Bridging the gap between the surreal and the fabulous, The Mystic Underground has arrived to take the electronic pop world by storm. Beginning with the critically acclaimed Six EP to the imminent debut single The Wanderers, this is a band that is destined to be at the forefront of the return of electronic pop music to prominence.

Press Reviews
Track List: 1. True Believer 2. How Does It Feel To Be Adored 3. Never Say Never 4. Evergreen Meadow 5. Swansong 6. Tomorrow Might Never Come The Mystic Underground six EP Evergreen Meadow Music MU001 With a retro tinge, The Mystic Underground's "six EP" is a strong debut. Hints of Erasure and Yaz pop in here and there, but The Mystic Underground's style is a much more modernized version of that '80s sound. Strangely enough, this band doesn't remind of any other synthpop act performing today (which is pretty uncommon). Their light, upbeat tunes will surely please any fan of the genre, though.Blending male and female vocals in nearly every track, The Mystic Underground breaks free from the mold of the mostly-male synthpop genre. "Tomorrow Might Never Come," though quite simplistic on the musical side, is elevated by the two strong vocalists. The dancy, catchy melody of "True Believer" will remind you a bit of Erasure's "A Little Respect" or "Take A Chance On Me," but with a very fresh, new feel. "six EP" is a refreshing CD, blending sounds of the past with sounds of the future. You can find out more about The Mystic Underground on their website, http://www.themysticunderground.com. The Mystic Underground - demo tape K701. The Wanderers 02. Swan Song03. Never say never04. True Believer Hailed from United States, The Mystic Underground delivers a old school synthpop sound with a strong reminiscent of Depeche Mode in their early days and Yazoo, along some current britpop stars such as Suede (particularly on the vocals). As a debuting band, the result is not perfect and adjustments can be made. The 4 songs featuring on the demo tape are quite good, particularly The Wanderers, which is the best track with simple but nicely done, the vocals are strong and the song itself remains catchy and solid. Where The Mystic Underground shows weakness, is on the music, with a better equipment and upgrade skills (which only come with time), the act should come with a nice and solid product, along, for sure, a studio support with more work on the sounds. But, I'm looking to The Mystic Underground as a debuting band, and as they show it on their demo tape; the ideas are clear and solid. They are on a good way and their future will certainly be bright. The Mystic Underground - Six 01. True Believer 02. How Does It Feel To Be Adored 03. Never Say Never 04. Evergreen Meadow 05. Swansong 06. Tomorrow Might Never Come Though there was obviously some work to do on their music, the demo tape that we received from this debuting synthpop trio early this year was announcing only promising thoughts. Now, The Mystic Underground is presenting their debut EP, simply entitled Six and a single listen rapidly demonstrates that the act has grown at an incredible speed. Comparing to their demo tape, the production is far much better, the electronics are now mastered and the vocals much more convincing. Here, The Mystic Underground is offering their classic synthpop with strong early Depeche Mode and Yaz hooks with a professional touch. Vladimir Vatel, the singer, continues to offer his energetic and colorful Suede-ish voice now accompaigned by Katerina Vlasiadis on the backvocals. The music is upbeat and strongly influenced by the past heroes of the genre; at it's shown on the disco-esque Never Say Never and the opener True Believer, much more powerful here than it was on the demo tape. There is still some adjusments to do as well and the most important thing should be to explore new sounds and ambiences instead of playing in the limits of the genre. But, from the demo tape to Six, The Mystic Underground have made a huge step and the band only seems to go further in their musical exploration.
