Artist description
This is a dynamic Rhythm and Blues group which explores and stretches the boundaries of the genre. We move from straight Blues to Jazz and Rock Blues. Live we perform 50s style songs such as "Hand Jive," Mose Allison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Modern Blues, and originals in a variety of styles. We have evolved over time and always rock the house or bring it down to a slow sway. We're a crowd pleaser. |

Artist History
Shades of Blue formed in the Spring of 1992. We quickly got on the Los Angeles area club circuit. We played houses such as B.B. King's club and the House of Blues. We worked extensively with the House of Blues doing private parties for the likes of Disney and IBM. We opened for such names as: Koko Taylor, Keb Mo, Duke Robillard, Steppin Wolf, and the Yellow Jackets. We've also done shows with Leon Russell, James Brown, Herb Alpert, and performed for the Merv Griffin La Quinta Arts festival. |

Press Reviews
Music Connection Magazine, vol. XXI, No.12 6/12/95.Some excerpts: An 8 out of 10; ..."they often use the harmonica for lead lines that a second guitar would normally play which adds an interesting dimension to the sound. It's also nice that their songs arennn't all at the same tempo. ... The guys are polished pros at the top of their game."Southland Blues Magazine: " Damn we Southern Californians are a lucky lot. On Lamost any night of the week we can pile into our little smog-makin machines and within minutes (and for a cover charge that's one quater the price of the big name acts) enjoy a night of some of the best blues this side of the Windy City." |
