    Press Reviews
Nick Vroman, the kingpin of Seattle’s Belltown scene is on a roll. After releasing the sparkling, "From Here To There" last spring, touring Montana, Idaho, the Iberian Peninsula and Washington State, Jolly Saint Nick has released yet another full length solo CD, "Proof." But the man with the great big growl is not hitching a ride down the same track as his last release. Thanks to the help of former Wayne Horowitz sideman, electronicist Tucker Martine, "Proof" takes folk music into the twenty-first century. With a rhythm section that sounds like a Rube Goldberg invention, precisely placed analog synthesizers, toy guitars, Hammond organ, saws, milk crates, two by fours, a Christmas tree stand and the standard musical instruments of the day, "Proof" is the high mark that all others will be measured. Vroman’s dark and dramatic songs are deeply rooted in American folk; hard life, hard traveling, hard loving type stuff that would make the hair on Nick Cave’s neck stand. "Proof," is the future of folk music.David Kulczyk
