Artist History Now living in Niwot, Colorado, Michael McPherson has several musical projects underway which include his debut recording on NEH Records, "Don't Look Back". A versatile musician, he plays several instruments including the guitar, bass, mandolin, and keyboards. Michael's musical heritage originates in southern Missouri where he began playing the guitar at the age of 12. He played guitar, bass, and keyboards in a number of rock bands throughout his high school and college years. Influenced by Steely Dan, Van Morrison and the music of rock guitar legends such as Hendrix, and Clapton, he also maintains a strong link to acoustic rock and folk music from such classic artists as Neil Young, Cat Stevens, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor and John Prine. While living in Phoenix, Arizona, Michael played local clubs and coffee houses as a solo acoustic act for several years, refining his performing and songwriting skills. Since moving to the Boulder area, Michael has played in several rock/blues bands, but continues to evolve his original acoustic music as a solo act in parallel with his other musical projects.
