    Artist History
Critical State is a distorted and dark industrial musical concept. It has been created in 1998 by Stéphane Laurrain, who used to be the singer of 'WITCHCRAFT', a death metal band, until 1996. A self producted CD called 'Lived' was made during a Studio session. The first CRITICAL STATE CD was created in 1998 and was called 'Tightrope Walker on Borderline'.Tightrope walker is constituted by 11 tracks, that show the base of the CRITICAL STATE sound : 'Make the noises cry'CRITICAL STATE is like a mental overload, a nuclear incident, an infernal carroussel of destruction. That was the concept of 'Kill, Kill, Kill ...', second CD, containing 5 tracks, finished in october 1999.

FEAR DROP #6 :- is that of the CRITICAL STATE, Pen name of a musician from Dijon who produced a complete album very influenced by Mr Harris and B.LASWELL. It is also one of the most ' pro ' demo received this year. Rhythmic broken thickened by deep basses are surrounded there and visited with creatures players. CRITICAL STATE reached a technical maturity which one hopes to see soon on a more personal workELIGY :CRITICAL STATE is one of the most improbable marriages of this panorama with the five Kill Kill Kill's titles and post which would form the ideal soundtrack of an Eraserhead's new grindingFear Drop # 7 :It is the road which was also crossed by CRITICAL STATE, whose first CDR showed an ease in the style and a solid affection to Harris and Laswell's models. The new CD demo proves a blooming on this domain: electric lights, ground whistlings. A much richer universe which, if it did not abandon the pad spheres, is also the report of an investigation where numerous sources draw new outlines, close sometimes to those of the HINT or even of MINIMAL COMPACTHeimdallr webzine :Tightrope walker on Borderline: The violence of the fragments is latent, everybody in reserved, ready to explode, always in the limit. A certain atmosphere dub spring sometimes (One the Blink). One could blame for a certain linear way of construction of every title, nevertheless, taken separately, each possesses of unstoppable qualities. The last one taken out of Critical State materializes under the shape of the magnificent ep Kill Kill Kill. Long instrumental, heavy and oppressive complaints, in the filled rhythm, nailed on the spot. Percussions make more present and subtle, electronics more sophisticated. Musical progress is there blatant, as at the level of the orchestration as the compositions. Atmosphere is much more industrial and dark that on the previous album, references begin to point, as these recollections to Blink Twice, or then to the ghost of Swans breaking out on the disturbing and masterful " Dancing with a shade of you " any guitars outside. The use of buckles amplifies the intrinsic beauty of every title, and confers it this aspect radically except standard.
