Artist History
Not coming from a particularly musical family but one which spent time singing in the car, Rob has been playing guitar/keyboard instruments for almost 32 years. After the formative years and time buying and destroying guitars, Rob became the production director at CHRW-FM Radio Western in 1984 and began recording on 8-track gear. One song - an instrumental piece titled "Gandalf" - entered the college chart in 1985 at #8. Encouraged by this, Rob continued writing and recording with his band "Babble and Rhetoric", but after leaving school and moving to take work in tv production eventually Rob moved away from any music until 1993 when he wrote a 30 second piece of music to accompany a PSA for North Bay's "Summer Jam music festival". Seizing on that, Rob returned to UWO to take up the position of Production Manager and Chief Engineer. Rob spent the time from 1993-96 recording local bands, in the end having his name associated with over 75 different productions. During this time Rob spent a great deal of time writing and recording at their facilities, archiving material for future work. 1995 found Rob at Fanshawe College finishing his computer programming degree and also performaing solo with his newly discovered Computer Band (really... it was a PC with a sequencer and Turtle Beach soundcard). Eventually in 1998 after working and living in Toronto for a while, the opportunity to move to Seattle came up, and Rob went westward. Since 1998, Rob has been expanding his equipment rack and improving the software to run it on, first recording product in 1999 and posting it on mp3.com, and then going on hiatus to start a family. Right now Rob is writing and also collecting material from the past to work into a larger piece of music which will be recorded and posted online sometime early in 2004. |
