Reviews
Obscured By Clouds and the CD Bleed.
What's of special interest here is the band's original material-- the title track...capturing a similar spirit and applying it to their own compositions. This is a band to watch, especially given they have since expanded to a five piece and... seven new original tunes to their repertoire.
...William does an admirable job of capturing the spirit of that David Gilmour acoustic Guitar sound, which is also applied to tracks of later vintage...his voice is amazingly close to Gilmour's also.

Until now the only cover song I've liked was Neil Young's version of "Oh lonesome me" but Obscured By Clouds have blown that theory to pieces.
They have taken... (these) songs, spun their web of sounds and arrangements and, although they transport us back to the halcyon days of early psych/progressive music, they do so with the knowledge that music and techniques have changed and moved on. All these tracks are richer sounding and have more body then the originals, and the richness stems from William's baritone vocals and acoustic guitar to match, the style of which is quite unique. At times the vocals resemble Roger Waters/Dave Gilmour but also, if you can imagine the late, great Nick Drake...
...This band (is) heading to the major league of progressive/rock music... This band has a vision, a sound and a goal and they are going to achieve that goal.
-European Progressive Rock Reviews
...Vocals on 'Julia Dream' are terrific -- controlled, deep and powerful, and very evocative. 'Fearless,' 'Cirrus Minor' and 'Cymbaline' complete the Floyd covers...
As I suggested at the beginning, anyone who likes the unplugged style will probably like this album, even if they are not familiar with the tracks. William's voice is a strength of the band, as I indicated above; deeper than most conventional rock singers, it is pleasantly rich on the ear.
-New Horizons, Eddie Merryweather
The melody is really good here and the use of mellotron is beautiful... It is striking that all these tracks have been made so much their own by Obscured By Clouds... An album of pleasing music, brought in a strictly introspective way.
-Jurriaan Hage, Hage's Axiom of Choice
"The album's title track Bleed is a group original that evokes the same musical ambiance of breathy vocal, dense layers of keyboards and ghostly guitar. Pink Floyd fans will dig this."
- Archie Patterson, EUROCK
"...Atmospheres via plaintive lyrics & cyclically droning synths."
"...Dreamily haunting voice is a good fit."

Computer-fueled frequenters of the dark side of the moon long since have learned that logging into the Pink Floyd Webring can end up spacey. One safe place to start orbit: www.obscuredbyclouds.com. Yes, that is the name of a first-rate Portland band specializing in lesser-known Floydism. No, I don't know why.
