    Artist History
Chris was born in Wrexham, North Wales and "emigrated" to Scotland in 1982, eventually settling in East Kilbride. An involvement with a local amateur dramatics company led to a meeting with John Davis and Martin Dodd and the discovery of a mutual interest in traditional and contemporary acoustic music, fuelled by several after-show sessions in the Village Theatre bar. As founder members of The Nobby Grochla Quartet and Guinness and Porter, Chris and Martin developed their performing style and formed Kagan in 1996. John joined the band in 1998 and the trio have continued to establish themselves on the Scottish folk club circuit, delighting audiences with their blend of traditional, contemporary and original material, performed in their distinctive style and featuring tasteful playing and stirring vocal harmonies. The Kagan philosophy is simple - good songs, arranged with style and played with passion. A demo CD, Odds and Ends and Bits and Pieces is available on request. In addition to working with Kagan, Chris also performs solo, with an eclectic mix of original compositions and interpretations of songs from a wide range of contemporary and traditional sources. The debut CD Dragons and Seahorses is now available by mail order and MP3s of the songs can be downloaded from MP3.com. Chris' writing talents have already been recognised this year, with The Moon and the Rocking Horse winning the inauguaral Glasgow New Star Folk Club Songwriting competition and renowned folk performer Robin Laing covering Vampire's Prayer for his Edinburgh Fringe show Glamourie and Graveyards.

    Press Reviews
"Short stories in song and cameos of people, who might be someone you know, sit alongside lyrical love songs and songs dealing with contemporary issues, presented with fresh, contemporary guitar accompaniments and melodies." Donald Lindsay (Friskey Whiskey, Glasgow).
