    Artist description
"Post-modern art rock for the new millenium" - The band is its own art piece. Each "Shoe" is based on a poem by Matt Hart, who then handed them off to cohort Eric Appleby for appropriate melody. But the project is more than just a musical collaboration. Area artists are working on it as well, with Mary Anne Cowgill supplying real shoes, and painter Christian Schmit interpreting the stories visually. Along their musical journey, the Shoes make stops along the way at sea shanties, Weimar odes, doo wop tunes, and indie rock. A performance by the group is entertainment on many fronts. Part spoken-word, (The original poems are read by Forrest Griffen) part rock and roll, (Some songs complete with electric guitar!) and all-American. You'll also find percussion supplied by lids, tap dancing and washboard. Performers switch instruments, sing along, and generally have a good time. (description courtesy of cincinnati.citysearch.com)

    Artist History
Matt Hart and Eric Appleby are two-thirds of noise-pop outfit Clifford Nevernew, half of another spoken/broken word musical piece, Travel, and are habitues of the Cincinnati art scene. They are joined by Matt Reynolds of the "defunked" Shag, on baritone and tenor sax and flute and and Kevin Hering, percussionist extraordinaire. The players switch off on instruments, with all singing but only one dancing.
