Artist description
Paul's current CD is a collection of solo instrumental pieces for guitar that, stylistically, combines elements of folk, classical and new age music. Paul's writing and playing styles are extremely lyrical. His songs are like vocal pieces sung by the guitar. His passion for music and the guitar is evident in the depth of feeling conveyed by his melodies and the expressive nature of his playing style. The songs have a deceptively simple structure, while the harmony and counterpoint yield increasing complexity with each listening. Melody and harmony blend seamlessly while repeated ostinati provide a rhythmic underscore. This juxtaposition of simplicity and complexity make the songs easy to listen to the first time and yet rewarding to hear repeatedly.Paul's live performance includes his own material as well as tasteful covers of classic rock, folk, and pop tunes spanning the last three decades. His voice has been described as "uniquely expressive" and is well matched to his fingerstyle guitar. He has a relaxed stage presence and comfortable rapport with his audiences. His stories about his life and the "motivations" behind his songwriting are guaranteed to amuse and delight audiences.Paul lives in Wakefield, RI with his wife and ten-year-old son and teaches music in the local schools. |
