Artist description
B.L.I.S.S. is an acronym for Because Life Is So Strange. I chose this name as my "band" name because in my life there have been many twists of fate that have carried me through many changes.
I do not truly believe in serendipity, but that there is a purpose for each of our lives. Along the way, I have been blessed with many opportunities to learn skills that brought me to this.
I thank God for each one of them. |

Artist History
I was born and raised in Ohio. In the small town where I grew up, there wasn't much to do, so I spent a lot of time listening to music, and through various music lessons, developed my own style for it.
After graduating from HS, I traveled around the country by bus, and hitch-hiking, with my guitar and some records in a backpack.
I was in a garage cover band for a while where I played bass, and bailed because they did not want to play original music.
I got married, raised a family sold my instruments, and went into a coma.
Then I began to awaken, found an old friend, got new gear, and started to create music again.
Now I am working on my second album, which will be out by fall.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Spirit Walk" is an okay track. It's not really anything special, but it's not horrible. It's fairly mellow, and has a good beat. It also has the cheesiest beginning I've heard, and the worst ending.
The beginning is a "scary" score being played by what's obviously a synth trying to sound like the strings section of an orchestra. This string synth is used throughout the track and diminishes the tracks appeal. It sound too synthesized! Well, I'm a picky little bugger eh? I'm not satisfied with samples, and I'm not satisfied with synths. There's just no pleasing Dave in Port Moody. No, the reason is that strings are hard to synthesize, so if you're going to have the main musical element in your track a string synth, you'd better make sure it's a good one. People don't like being reminded that what they're listening to isn't the real thing. Furthermore, the strings are WAY to loud. If they were a little bit quieter, they might not sound so obvious.
The ending of the track is abrupt, and is accentuated with a cheerful chord hit; like you've just shut down windows or something. C-to the H-to the double-E, Z! Dat's chee-Z y'all.
The drums are actually pretty good. It's hard to tell if it's a drum loop, because they're quite varied. This is good. Even if it was a sample loop, I'd still like them; after all, there is an art to selecting your samples. ;P
The harmony is okay too, it's just a little cheezy; however, there seems to be some sort of theme to that effect, so we'll let it slide.
To round off: it's not terribly bad, not terribly good. I wouldn't download it, but then that's what friends are for, right?
