Artist History
Formed in the mid-eighties, the Dispossessed was centered around the then-active Hartford alternative scene. With their roots in punk and psychedelia, they wrote and performed music that earned them a reputation of being one of the darker acts in the area. Owing much to the English post punk scene, The Dispossessed developed into an inconsistantly polished group by the time the final demo recordings were realized. These recordings later formed the basis of the LP "Sister Mary" which was released in the US on Dagger Records, and later re-released in Europe by Di-Di Records in Athens. "Sister Mary" was a tribute released after the untimely loss of guitarist Jeremy Guenter. ,For a more personal perspective on this band's history, please refer to The Dispossessed home page(link available here).
As of August 2001, The Dispossessed have re-entered the studio to record new material and by demand, some remastering of previously released work. Look for a new Dispossessed release in early 2002 with a couple of new members coming on board. |
