Press Reviews
From Future Music Magazine and cover disc (September 2000): "Cosmonaut" rocks more bells than LL Cool J and Quasimodo at a bell ringer's convention. This tune is downright nasty. The rumbling bass sounds like a space shuttle on take-off, the distorted synth makes it sounds like it's going to crash any second, and the drums kick like the Chemical Brothers on PCP! This sort of techno may have grown out of rave-era Britain, but this American track proves it doesn't matter where you come from. Mint are up there blazing a blinding trail of burning beats and sizzling synths. Dare any FM reader follow?"The Big Heist" would be great in a movie like "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" because it seems modern and yet timeless. Though the beats and bass groove are just as effective as "Cosmonaut", the subject of breaking into the world's largest bank seems irrelevant outside the broader context of a movie. Still, given an appropriate setting, this tune would soudn fantastic. The remaining tracks, "La Ciudad de las Luces" and "Who Are Those Guys" are, by contrast, more downbeat than "The Big Heist" and "Cosmonaut". With the gears shifted down, the Mint sound has a little less impact, but is still solid nontheless." |
