Artist History
Formed in 1994 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada by three musicians attending the University of Windsor, the three had jammed before but had been apart for a few years when, while drinking at the pub, the idea to form a band whose "gimmick" was to wear welding goggles and masks on stage gave birth to the Welders. The original idea for the music was to just do covers and try to combine songs (like Zeppelin's "Trampled Underfoot" combined with Stevie Wonder's "Superstition.") that sound alike. But when the jamming began, original material started to become more prevalant. By '95 the band recorded a seven song demo on cassette which was hailed by the local community. In the summer of '97 plans to record a rock opera were curtailed due to a malfunctioning reel-reel recorder, but the band was back in the spring of '98 with the "Country Trucker" single - the remnants of the summer of '97 recordings. A few months later, the band started recording their first full length CD. The album, entitled "Lost in Hell's Foundry" was recorded, produced, manufactured, and distributed by the band itself and now finds its way onto the electronic (free) record store shelf here at mp3.com. |
