Artist History
In 1994 Tobosa and Hall decided it was time to take the rhythm section from the back of the bus to the front of the mothership. McGillcuddy and Mag knew a good thing when they saw it and signed up for a lifetime tour of duty. Smelling the funkativity oozing from every pore of the four-headed monster, Ibrahim's and Timetraveler's curiosity led them to offer their skills, completing the funk machine now known as the Unknown Jeromes. |

Press Reviews
"If you're looking for a new party band, this is it. Unknown Jeromes layer a combination of funk -- make thatfonnk -- R&B, acid jazz and hip hop and stretch it tightly over a framework ofthumping bass, pumping drums, snapping guitar and electro percussives. It makes for a "must dance" sound that shows influences of Sly and the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Kool and the Gang, Weather Report and the Time. All six band members solo on their instruments of choice in one to two minute tracks interspersed throughout the album. "Oh Yeah", "If You Like It (You'll Love It)" and "Who Knows" all sound like "A" sides to me. With this kind of musical ammo, it's hard to imagine that Unknown Jeromes will be unknown for very long."

"Sure there's plenty of James Browns get-into-the-groove sensibility in the funk of the Unknown Jeromes. But with respect to the Godfather of Soul, the band's influences obviously run way deeper. There's a touch of Miles Davis' electric forays into jazz-pop fusion and a bit of the Artist Formerly Known as Prince's arrogant strut. In other words, it's far more than a dancable jam in E layered with raps and dressed up in bright polyester clothes. Their sound is sophisticated, full of intricate harmony, rhythmically alive and deeply soulful."
