    Artist description
Back in the early 80's social comment in music was still met with resistance... at least it stirred some reaction from both free thinkers (alignment) and the rest (scorn). For this reason, and particularly in the context of the Chilean Dictatorship, Miguel Serrano (Mikeh -33-) formed OrgAsmO, the first chilean punk band and pioneers of Rock music with Spanish Lyrics (Rock is a genre, Lyrics are Lyrics, two separate things. We consider that lumping these two into a category -as "Rock en Espanol"- is an insult towards music and Hispanics over the world) in that country. However in todays context, even the most retro-grade will align with all forms of social comment, hence, it has become a cheap way to win over sympathies (milked by record companies & publishers). In today's world it is individual comment (that touches upon our dark side as individuals, rather than as a society) that is met with resistance, even among the self proclaimed liberals, and discarded as useless. This is the perspective that Javiera Guevara (Javi -24-) has brought to Mikeh, as they form the core of The MasterS in NYC, 1997.Supported by a line-up of top Jazz+ musicians, The MasterS cherish their punk heritage (including social commentary), but remain permeable to all forms within music (including mathematical patterns, chilean folklore & japanese technologies) and individual comment that hopes to shed some doubt on deeply seated individual programs. And since few seem that they will ever understand, in the end it is for us to learn how to get it a-kross.The MasterS

    Press Reviews
"This has got to be one of the most incredible bands I've ever heard in my life. Industrial jazz rock punk funk orchestrated chaos socially political and self aware. Imagining Fripp/Eno/Zappa/Clash ... raw and discordant implied madness in DNA mathmatically intricate and obtuse, a hyperbole of mind bending realities in its urban-ness. The cast of characters a 'who's who' of NYC oddities and adventurers, given that very Manhattan Transfer - Zappa thing going on in No-Sis ... takes me back and around the endless circuit under the city as Mr. President rolls into that thing that Fripp only imagined in his deepest dreams ... giving way to the circus in the streets parading punk broadway Coumprendei ... an incredible recording ... Highest Pro Critic Rating ... this is group of the year and album of the year qualified ... immediately goes on my list of best of recordings major labor or indie for 2001. Rivals contemporaries Beck, Moby, Incubus, and Trent Reznor in originality and verve. This band is beyond cool ... they are in another place all to themselves." - Chris K., Pro Critic Radio review April 5th, 2001 - all rights reserved .... www.mp3.com/stations/pro_critic -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "Ya son mas de 60 las bandas locales de Nueva York.
