Artist History
After a two year hiatus and a new rejuvenated rhythm section, Southern California legends "The Jolly Lamas" are back and in full force once again to leave there brand of hard edged power pop on SanDiego's newly revitalized music scene. Formed amid the chaos of the post grunge mid-90's ; "The JollyLamas" first made their presence known with their critically acclaimed 10-song debut on Rainband Records; "Two Seconds to The Moon" in 1997. Which earned them a nomination for "Best Local Recording" at the 1998 San Diego Music Awards. Featuring an engaging balance between heavy yet friendly hooks; and the introspective song-writing of guitarist/vocalist BenJacobs, "Two Seconds to the Moon" also received attention from motion picture and television industries when their songs "Yank my Chain" was featured in the indie classic "The Others" and "Football Hero" on the "Late show" with Conan O'Brien. Accompanied by the focused guitar playing of co-founder Chris Ford: and headlining shows at "The Casbah","The Whiskey A Go Go", and "The Roxy", The Jolly Lamas are well on their way to taking their place among California's rock elite. With the recent additions of drummer Ken Haile and Anton Jacobs on bass, The Lamas have the sonic foundation necessary to take the San Diego quartet to the next level. A new found sense of inspiration and a renewed energy has been utilized, resulting in a rawer sound while still maintaining the signature "Lamas" pop sensibility. Eager to reclaim their place in the varied Southern California music landscape; "The Jolly Lamas" long awaited follow up to "Two Seconds to the Moon" will see them off to the recognition they have long deserved. |
