Artist description
The Gun & Doll Show is one of the most unique and entertaining institutions to come out of San Francisco. Formed in 1993, for the past ten years the band has played virtually every venue in town, essentially redefining what is expected of a rock group. Whether it's popping out of a six foot cherry pie, dancing with a group of military cheerleaders or performing with a 50 Guitar Orchestra naked, The Gun & Doll Show is known for never disappointing and always unpredictable live shows.
Alternately driven and delicate, up-beat and hauntingly melancholy, professionally pop-y and politically charged, The Gun & Doll Show has been described as "Ess Eff's best and most ingenious rock band" (PJ Corkery, SF Examiner, 2002). The G&DS has branched most recently into electronica with their new single, Automatic; but they stay true to their rock 'n roll roots more often than not. This is demonstrated on their two critically acclaimed releases, Working On The Bomb (1998) and New Blood - The Gun & Doll Show Live (2000), and will be readily apparent on their upcoming album, Thank Girls for God Guns & Guitars due out in 2003.

Artist History
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, the concept of the Gun & Doll Show was born in a nebulous and embryotic form. Through light years of space and time travel, the band has arrived at it's current incarnation. Having lived enough lives to feel confident in their karma accumulation, the band is now ready to take on the world. |

Press Reviews
If studied indifference is a hallmark of rock 'n' roll attitude, nobody bothered to tell the members of the Gun & Doll Show. James Sullivan, S.F. Chronicle, March 4, 1998O - Ooh, now that's nice. Every now and then, after wading through piles of indie rubbish ya come across a gem. With a confident, inviting and verydeep pop, The Gun & Doll Show demand instant attention. Framing their multi-vocalled tuneswith galloping guitar plucks (of the blunt andlow variety favoured by cowpunk bands in the early eighties), this quartet dynamic is absolutely catchy. And what a joy it is to hear a great mix, where every nuance plays a part and the separation between instruments and vocals is crystal clear. It brings to mind early Talking Heads, though more musical and less pretentious. There's plenty o'talent here, and no doubt you'll be hearing of The Gun & Doll Show sooner than later. Just remember where you heard it first. John Sekerka Cosmik Debris |
