Artist History
They've been compared to everyone from the Beatles and Led Zeppelin to Crowded House and The Levellers but Stripped are an exciting and fresh acoustic based pop outfit. Formed late 1996 band members are Daryl Ball (age 25, vocals, bass + piano),Ryan Ball (age 22, guitar, vocals + mandolin), Aaron Blair(age 27,guitars, vocals + harmonica) and Alwyn Evans (age 26, Drums).
Aaron and Daryl were formerly members of the successful and popular N.Irish pop/rock act "The Norwegians". With this group they had songs featured on two acclaimed compilation albums, the "Nine" C.D. (Nine CD 1000) and "Africa Make Or Break" (oxfam 1) as well as releasing their own sell out (500 copies) 8 song cassette titled "Turn It On". For Three years running their Demos were in the local radios listeners favourites as well as being regularly voted a favourite live act. You can visit the Norwegians Homepage at: http://lavender.fortunecity.com/stradbroke/111/norwegians.html
They finally bowed out after a successful four-week U.S. tour. After a short time away, and with the great benefit of experience, Aaron and Daryl came together again to start writing and, with the inclusion of Ryan and Alwyn formed "Stripped".
Together they have a lot of confidence and enthusiasm and are proving to be a winning formula. In a relatively short time they have written over thirty-five top quality songs of varying styles and obvious wide appeal.
Over the last year they have been using different recording studios to Demo some of their work (14 tracks to date), many of which has received very favourable airplay on many Radio Stations, not only locally, some as far away as Sweden, Australia, Tokyo, The U.S. and even Olimp radio in Khabarovsk, Russia! They've also been popular with many U.K. University Radio Stations.
Their songwriting skills are their main strength, as noted in their many positive reviews they've received in the music press. They are also a prolific and competent live act, averaging over 50 gigs a year, often playing to large and enthusiastic audiences.
End of '98 saw Stripped make their first eagerly awaited commercial release, "The 4 Walls E.P." (PBS.CD1/500). Reviews were highly favourable and in it's first week alone, sales took it into the Local Charts Top 10 alongside other local names Ash and Divine Comedy.
"4 Walls" was followed in February'99 by having a track featured on the excellent "Burbs" (BURBS-23) compilation album, sponsored by Yamaha Music U.K. Stripped were one of only eleven bands chosen from over 100 submitted. More news on this can be found at: http://www.burbs.org.uk
In March 1999 Stripped had their song "Don't Walk Away" qualify and performed at the finals of the prestigious "Fourth National Song Contest For Peace", held at the famous "Everyman Palace", Ireland.
July of this year will see Stripped's third commercial release. Their song "Love Is Gone" will be featured on the latest compilation album by, long established Indie label, "Reindeer Records". "The Blue and The Grey, Vol.4". They're The first and only non U.S. artists to ever be included.
There is also further strong A+R interest outside the U.K in both Belgium and Germany.
Please find enclosed a small sample of their work. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to listen in full, as this is necessary to appreciate the work properly. I believe you will be as impressed as I and so many others are.
Further material can be forwarded if required. I trust I will
hear from you soon. Thankyou.
