Press Reviews
©1999 CCM MagazineNovember, 1999p. 30Steve Broderson, who fronted the on-again, off-again outfit The Orphans, has been writing and recording demos of his songs for the last several years. His initial indie effort from 1992, Televangelated, revealed his whacked sense of humor and keen sense of melody. Now, straight from his office in Versailles, Ky., to you comes the further adventures of Broderson's world on Non-Prophet. It was recorded on a Roland VS-840 hard disk system from November, 1998 to February 1999. Written, produced and performed entirely by Broderson with just a little help from his friends Jeff Tipton and Kevin Sparks, you'll find influences of Rembrandts, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Jellyfish and XTC. Did someone say Beatles? His mix of 80s and 90s guitar-driven pop/rock has enabled him to open for Michael Roe (The 77s) and perform at Cornerstone, Ichthus and, oh yeah, Brazil. Just a dozen dollars (that's right, $12) will secure your very own personal autographed copy.
