Playing medieval, renaissance and a variety of ethnic styles, this group has seen several incarnations but always includes core group members Robert Lepre and Rosemary Birardi, east coast Renaissance faire travelers.The group plays for parades, ceremonies, rituals and Maypole dances and mideastern beats, jigs and reels, and the monophonic and polyphonic music of Mauchaut, Morley, Dunstable and Binchois, to name just a few.Using the Proteus 3 "World" and sampled early music instruments was a perfect match for recording the music of this group.Maymorn A combination of electronic sounds and samples of acoustic pipes, tabors and other drums creates the flavor of these English country dance tunes of the 14-16th centuries. |

Artist History
The Saint Marks Consort was formally named in 1988 at the New York Renaissance Festival, although the members had been playing together since 1982. Expanding and contracting depending on which wandering minstrels reached Sterling Forest each year, the band plays for the Maypole and parades around the grounds bringing music everywhere! Appearing at the New York Renaissance Faire, Sterling Forest, NY, August/September each year. St Marks Consort now includes Bruce Bernardo on bass and banjo and Eric Ortner on violin. |
