Historia que comienza hace medio siglo, cuando mi madre grabó en mi mente y espíritu la virtud del canto y, especialmente, del bolero como expresión del alma. Corrían los años de las décadas de los ’40 y ’50 y ella cantaba mientras trabajaba, y también me ingresó en el coro de la iglesia de Santa Rosalía en Caracas. Luego, los años de la juventud y las serenatas, así como los improvisados conjuntos musicales entre amigos y mis hermanos (Rosita, Pedro y "El Chino"). A partir de mis primeros encuentros con Lil, mi compañera de 31 años de matrimonio, surgen en mí las inspiraciones del verdadero amor. Versos y cartas de un noviazgo “de lejos” ayudaron mucho a no perder la vena y el deseo de cantar las mil facetas de lo que yo llamo ENCUENTROS. Son las vivencias propias de la pareja, fantasías que uno ha realizado… y hasta cosas que se añoran. Además se recogen encuentros relativos a mis tres hijos y una ahijada, Anabella, con ocasión de su matrimonio.La canción principal, “ENCUENTROS”, se llama como el título del CD, y se inspira en la idea de que no existen dos momentos de amor idénticos “…cada noche nuestra tiene su sabor…”. También se recogen situaciones cotidianas que describen cómo es la relación de la pareja en el día a día. (“COMO DE COSTUMBRE” y “CAMA DE DOS METROS”).Pienso que mis composiciones están influidas por cada fase de mi vida, pero mis cinco años “conviviendo” con la comunidad cubana de Miami me inclinan mucho al sentir caribeño. En el CD tenemos dos productos que reflejan eso (“SUEÑOS DE CASADO” y “EL RECIÉN CASAO”), dos “cha-cha-cha’s” (“HOY” y “NO TE VAYAS DE MI CAMA”). Una “bachata” y varios boleros que se quieren desbordar en algo más movido. También incluimos una pieza de John Belisario en un formato de “bossa nova” (“VIVO Y MUERO CONTIGO”); y hasta nos atrevimos con un bolero ranchero ( “ANOCHE, MIENTRAS TU ME BESABAS”) y algo de jazz latino (“LO SIENTO, AMOR”).Todas mis canciones obedecen a sentimientos y situaciones reales o imaginadas entre mis personajes y yo. Así encontramos las canciones a mis hijas: “ESA SERENA BELLEZA” que proyecta la personalidad de Verónica, la mayor "…La primera en darme gusto…”; “NO ESTAS TU, MI CAMPANA” que expresa la nostalgia por la ausencia de Valentina, la menor. La más reciente canción, “HERMANO MAR”, es para mi hijo Nelson y en ella expreso mi profundo amor para ese hijo-amigo, así como el gusto de ambos por el mar. Quedan espacios más íntimos, pero también muy reales, y que he querido proyectar en canciones como “LAS CUATRO TELAS”, “LO SIENTO AMOR” (A quién no le ha pasado?), “DIME QUE SI” Y “BAÑARNOS JUNTOS”. Todas han tenido la inspiración de lo íntimo, real o fantasía, pero recogen ideas que, seguramente le suceden a todo el mundo. Empecé a “enseriar” mi trabajo en 1990. La primera canción surgió en un ensayo familiar con John Belisario (teclado), Antonio José Delgado (guitarra), Mauricio Aflallo (maracas), Jesús José Figuera (percusión) e Iván Pulido (ingeniero de sonido; fallecido). La canción fue “TUS BESOS CENSURADOS” que, por cierto, gustó mucho desde nuestros inicios como conjunto musical. Ese grupo lo denominamos “Los Concus”, porque éramos todos concuñados. Esa primera canción dio paso a otras más, hasta completar una veintena, siempre compuestas ensayadas y cantadas con John y Los Concus.La estadía de tres años en Houston me permitió conocer a varios venezolanos con afición por la música. Comencé cantando con José Miguel Zapata y su cuatro. Pero con quien más he cantado en reuniones familiares ha sido con Carlos Siso, quien rápidamente engranó con mi estilo. Su guitarra se asoma en varias canciones del CD. Fue Carlos quien me presentó a los dos amigos con quienes realicé esta producción : Francisco Bello y Rangel Morao, ambos de extraordinario talento. En unas cuantas sesiones en su casa (con la hospitalidad de Carmen, su esposa) fuimos dando forma a este trabajo. Desde el principio Francisco me advirtió que mi voz se adecuaba a un proyecto familiar; y bajo el acuerdo de que no sería más que eso, hemos llegado a este CD, hecho para compartir entre amigos muy íntimos. A estos compañeros musicales les estoy sumamente agradecido.También en Houston tuve la oportunidad de conocer a un personaje con quien me unió un afecto instantáneo: el hoy fallecido Tito Calvo, (a) “Domingo Herrero”, conocido conductor de un programa de radio en Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. En una reunión de amigos me pidió un borrador de mis canciones, llegando a radiarlas frecuentemente en esa ciudad. Ese gesto se lo agradecí mucho; y hoy este trabajo va dedicado a él y a su esposa e hijas, cumpliendo una promesa que le hicimos Lil y yo.Y así, con el recuento de mis encuentros, doy gracias a Dios porque he llegado al momento en que disfruto plenamente de mis canciones. Lil me sigue inspirando como el primer día; y el mejor ejemplo son “SIGUES, MI AMOR” y “TE CONFIESO”, canciones muy recientes que reflejan lo que han sido estos treinta años de ENCUENTROS que Dios me ha regalado.A todos mis amigos les dedico este trabajo. Ojalá lo juzguen por su intención y no por la calidad de mi voz (porque de lo que sí estoy seguro es de la bella música que me arreglaron Francisco y Rangel). History that has been beginning for half century, when my mother recorded in my mind and spirit the virtue of the song and, specially, of the bolero like expression of the core. The years of decades of the ' 40 ran and ' the 50 and she sang while it worked, and also it joined to me the choir of the church of Santa Rosalía in Caracas. Soon, the years of youth and the serenades, as well as improvised the joint musical comedies between friends and my brothers (Rosita, Pedro and " the Chinese "). From my first encounter with Lil, my companion of 31 years of marriage, arise in me the inspirations from the true love. Verses and letters of a distant spot engagement " " helped much not to lose the vein and desire to sing the thousand facets of which I call ENCUENTROS (Encounters). They are the own experiences of the pair, fantasies that one has made... and until things that are longed for. In addition encounter relative to my three children and one goddaughter take shelter, Anabella, with occasion of their marriage. The main song, " ENCUENTROS ", is called like the title of the CD, and it is inspired by the idea that they do not exist two identical moments of love "... every night has its flavor... ". Also daily situations take shelter that they describe how it is the relation of the pair in the day to day. (" Como de Costumbre " and " La cama de dos metros "). I think that my compositions are influenced by each phase of my life, but my five years " coexisting " with the Cuban community of Miami incline to me much when Caribbean feeling. In the CD we have two products that reflect that (" Sueños de casado " and " El Recien Casao "), two " cha-cha-chás " (" hoy " and " no te vayas de mi cama "). A " bachata " and several boleros that are wanted to overflow more in something moved. Also we included a piece of John Belisario in a format of " bossa nova " (" VIVO y MUERO CONTIGO "); and until we dared with a bolero ranchero (" Anoche mientras tu me besabas ") and something of Latin jazz (" Lo siento Amor "). All my songs obey to feelings and situations real or imagined between my personages and I. Thus we found the songs to my daughters: " Esa serana belleza " that projects the personality of Verónica, the greater one "... first in giving I I like... "; " No estas, mi campana " which it express nostalgia by the absence of Valentina, the minor. The most recent song, " Hermano Mar ", is for my son Nelson and in express him my deep love for that son-friend, as well as the taste of both by the sea. They are left more intimate, but also very real spaces, and that I have wanted to project in songs like " Las cuatro telas ", " Lo siento amor " , " Dime que si " AND " Bañarnos juntos ". All has had the intimate, real inspiration of or the fantasy, but they gather ideas that, surely happen to him to everybody. I began " to get serious " with my (music) work in 1990. The first song arose in a familiar test with John Belisario (keyboard), Antonio Jose Delgado (guitar), Mauricio Aflallo (maracas), Jesus Jose Figuera (percussion) and Iván Pulido (sound engineer; deceased). The song was " Tus besos censurados " that, by the way, much pleased from our beginnings like musical assembly. That group we denominated " the Concus ", because we were all concuñados. That first song took step to others more, until completing a twenty, always compound tried and sung with John and the Concus.My stay of three years in Houston allowed me to know several Venezuelans with liking by music. I began singing with Jose Miguel Zapata and his cuatro. But with who I have sung more in familiar meetings it has been with Carlos Siso, who quickly geared with my style. Its guitar is shown in several songs of the CD. He was Carlos who both presented/displayed friends to me with those who I made this production: Francisco Bello and Rangel Morao, both of extraordinary talent. In a few sessions in its house (with the hospitality of Carmen, his wife) we went giving form to this work. From the beginning Francisco noticed me that my voice was adapted to a familiar project; and under the agreement in which it would not be more than that, we have arrived at this CD, fact to share between very intimate friends. To these musical companions extremely I am been thankful them. Also in Houston I had the opportunity to know a personage with whom united an instantaneous affection to me: the today passed away Tito Calvo, (a) " Domingo Blacksmith ", known conductor a radio program in Commodore Rivadavia, Argentina. In a meeting of friends it requested a rough draft to me of my songs, arriving to broadcast them in that city frequently. That gesture I thanked for much; and today this work goes dedicated to him and his wife and daughters, fulfilling a promise that we did Lil to him and I. And thus, with the count of my Encuentros, I thank to God because I have arrived at the moment at which I enjoy my songs totally. Lil to me continues inspiring like the first day; and the best example is " Sigues mi amor " and " Te confieso ", very recent songs that reflect what they have been these thirty years of ENCOUNTERS that God has given to me. To all my friends I dedicate east work to them. Hopefully they judge it by its intention and not by the quality of my voice (because of which yes I am safe it is of the beautiful music that to me fixed Francisco and Rangel)Hopefully ENCUENTROS inspire and narrow plus the friendship of the interpreter with those who listens to him.
