Artist History
"Nathan's Flat is that most elusive of creatures: a fresh-sounding alternative rock band." - Canadian Musician Magazine - July 2000 Nathan's Flat has been hailed by fans and the media as one of the most exciting new rock bands to emerge from Halifax's hot music scene since Sloan and Thrush Hermit. Their debut CD "ninety-nine" (released in February 1999) received unanimous critical acclaim, including a profile on MuchMusic. Since moving their homebase from Halifax to Toronto in the fall of 1999, they've continued to garner rave reviews for ninety-nine while playing shows around Ontario and Quebec. The band kicked off the new millenium with an East Coast Music Award nomination for Alternative Artist/Group of the Year and a tour of Eastern Canada. This past summer, they put on an electrifying NxNE showcase while also being picked for radio station Edge102's New Rock Search 2000.After some lineup changes in the summer of 2000, Nathan's Flat has regrouped with new members and is currently performing live around Ontario. The band is currently making plans for a new CD scheduled to be released later in 2001. In the meantime, the band has been involved with the "Consider This..." compilation CD co-op project which was released in February 2001. The CD was put together by 12 of Toronto's brightest independent artists. For more info on the project see "www.torontoindiemusic.com".
