Artist History
After college, Matt and Chris were roomates in New York City. A few years later found them both living in Los Angeles, working in the movie business and jamming on the weekends. After a few coffee house shows as a duo, they decided to find a drummer and plug in Matt's guitar. Since then they've been rockin' all over L.A., they recorded an album and had their songs played on local radio stationsKCRW and KROQ. |

Press Reviews
Lonesome Pie is a band that plays a quirky brand ofrock that mixes in many different influences - you can hear shades of country, alternative, folk andpunk throughout. While this melange of music is good,it's the lyrics that really makes these songs stand out. From the opening moments of "Styrofoam Veil," asong about getting stoned, to the bouncy "Out of theWay," a song about putting sex before the relationship, these songs have some very fun and insightful words. These are obviously things that Matt Bosson and Chris Earl have thought about and maybe even obsessed over. The result is that each little song is like a sliceof therapy mixed with a tiny bit of angst. What propelsthis band musically is the drumming of Jeff Breitman. This man makes the band go with his excellently timedcrashes and rolls, and it's the kind of drumming thatmakes the music seem that much better. Both Bosson onguitar and Earl on bass are also very good - stickingto the basics and adding few frills. Their singing talents could probably use a little work, but more often than not, their vocals fit the music. In fact, on several songs, Bosson's delivery fit the moodperfectly. -- Jon Pepper, Music Connection March 1998 |
