Artist History
Hated by the politically correct everywhere, '98 Lilith Fair artists Christian/Durand desperately try to return to a day when music was good. When songs were singable, when good singing mattered, when nobody gave a damn if you ate meat or not. For about three years, Christian/Durand was an acoustic duo, then they finally met some folks that they could stand to play with - these guys are affectionately known as their "all boy band". |

Press Reviews
January 2, 1999 Independent Songwriter Magazine Vol. 3 / Issue 1 "Although their sense of humor is infectious and they are definitely off-the-wall, these women are serious, first-class musicians and songwriters as evidenced in this seductive and intriguing mini-sampler CD. Simplified, controlled musicianship along with flowing lyrics that invite stimulating harmonies, Christian/Durand pick up where the Judds, The Lennon Sisters and The Everly Brothers left off and land at a sweeter, tastier place. The major labels should be drooling over these two talented tunesmiths...... "Go West, Virginia" is an upbeat, rocking ditty with a dreamy tempo and arrangement change right smack in the middle of this original delicacy. Sorely needed to be heard by contemporary radio. "Something in the Water" - a sultry harp and tight harmonies pull this song into surreal landscape. Nothing overdone here but what happens is very hip. "Sway" - ain't nothing like the swooning call of pedal steel to take you into another realm of existence. Christian/Durand have managed to bring a fine balance between musicianship, commercialism, and utter rhythmic splendor. "Unfaithful Woman" - hypnotic. "Don't It Feel Like Georgia" - laid-back, enchanting. The flavor of the South in all its beautiful history. The harmonies are exquisite." ............................ |
