Artist History
Florida, In 1998, Native New Yorkers John Roca and Chris LePow were introduced in to real music, by joining the Atlantic High School mens barbershop quartet. The group was named Men Of Distinction (M.O.D.). Chris being a tenor and John being a bass, they held balance between everyone and kept the music flowing. By now Chris had been creating music for 8 years and writing songs for 3. John had started playing Guitar and gradually took on bass. He was at the time playing lots of video games and watching lots of TV. A year before this, they created a band named Chris LePow and Fathom. Niether did they play or record but it started being just a hangout link. There were other friends, but none sticked with the band nor did they want to. The year 2000 came, Chris graduated high school and Fathom finally had a 3 song demo. At the end of the year, the band was slowing down for school and work and felt a change was needed. The band became PHATHOM, and new styles and a new feel for the music came from this. They began to write more music and build the bulk of Phathom up with a Quartet rock band. In 2001-2002 they introduced Anthony Turner, the only Phathom member that was able to help and contruct all of them instead of destroying it. He came, He saw, He played and then was called back to life by having a healthy baby boy(Tony). So from 97 until 2002 the band was not secure and time was needed, as well as life. At this time Chris started attending Full Sail University(www.fullsail.com) and graduated with a degree in recording arts/audio and later began taking digital media at Full Sail. John began Daytona Beach Community College and earning a degree in Computer and Internet Tech. Time passed and now (2003) the new Phathom is revealed. Recording and writing songs, the band has noted that their debut album will be released between the end of the year and beginning 2004. As the summer approaches, Chris has recieved his final degree at Full Sail and John has completed his first year out of two. They are currently recording and trying to find what was once lost from the original Fathom, and combining it with their new style. For now, it remains to be seen what will Phathom introduce in to this world? |
