Press Reviews
Sir George Martin C.B.E.
Legendary Producer of the Beatles.
"Thank you for sending me your Beaten Path CD which I enjoyed immensely. It was great fun to listen to. I am honoured and embarrassed that anyone should write a song in my honour. Good luck with your future recordings."
Paul Shaffer
Musical Director for Late Night with David Letterman
" Beaten Path - Voila des chansons qui vont tres bien ensemble ...c'est magnifique!" These are songs that go together very well ... they're magnificent!
Ronnie Hawkins
Legendary singer, mentor and long-time associate of John Lennon
" If my old buddy John Lennon had sent me this Beaten Path thing, I'd swear up and down that he had uncovered a long-lost Beatles album. I'm sure he'd really dig it. It's just about as many memories as any real Beatles' fan could ask for."
Paul White
The Capitol Records executive who first signed
the Beatles to a North American recording contract in 1963.
"I couldn't believe it wasn't the Beatles ... The musicianship is marvelous ... What they've produced is quite amazing ... You can hear the sound of the Beatles 100% and the style is certainly there ... It's so well written it's rather uncanny ... They obviously took a lot of time and trouble with this."
Roy Young
With Ringo Starr and Tony Sheridan, a member of the "Beat Brothers" in 1961; original pianist with the Beatles in Hamburg, Germany in 1962; invited to join the Beatles by Brian Epstein.
"Honestly caught the flavour of the Beatles ... Spot on vocals and arrangements ... I loved the strings ... It really caught the mood."
Ken Brown
Former member of the "Quarrymen" with John, George and Paul.
"Many thanks for sending me your 'Beaten Path' CD. It is a pleasure to listen to, and I was most impressed with every aspect of the project. The tracks are excellent as too is the production, my particular favorite being track seven 'You Never Know', it just seemed to have a special little something that you can't quite put your finger on, but makes you want to play it over and over again. Congratulations on a great CD, I wish you every success, and look forward to hearing future recordings."
Peter Simon
President of the Royal Conservatory of Music of Canada.
"This is a great CD and lots of fun ... It recreates the mood, the feel and all the fabulous memories that people associate with the Beatles. Musically it's there ... the style, structure, lyrics, harmonic content and voice timbre are a remarkably realistic evocation of the Beatles."
Stephen J. Spignesi
Author: The Beatles Book Of Lists
"I have the CD and am loving it! The songs sound like The Beatles and refer aurally to specific sounds and harmonies but the songs are completely original, unlike The Rutles's stuff which was pure parody and used Beatles riffs and melody lines almost note for note. I've listened to it a few times already and find myself humming irresistible hooks like the chorus of "Hole in the Sky" and the incredible, "early Beatles" "You're the One." The CD does not have a major distributor yet but you can bet your genuine Butcher's cover that it will soon and will then be a smash hit. I cannot wait until some of these tunes get radio airplay. People are going to go nuts for it!"
Jorge Bernardo
President of the Drive My Car Fan Club
(Washington, Maryland and Virginia Beatles Fan Club)
"I was extremely impressed with a number of things ... the quality of the production is fantastic ... It shines best through the orchestration … At times both the harmonies and the orchestration are eerily Beatle-esque. Beaten Path is a must-purchase for the completist Beatles fanatic ... Close your eyes and it will take you back and still leave you wanting more."
Robert Weinkauf
Vocalist and Guitarist of the "Butlers"
A legendary East German Rock & Roll band that has survived from 1958 until today.
"I have listened to your album so often in my car, that I think I've known it for years! In fact I
have memorized all the lyrics and vocal parts for every song on the disc! This means that I really enjoy the Beaten Path project! I hope that you are successful with it! I love the songs and they now live in my heart. The singers are brilliant!"
Jim Meehan
Host, Beatle Time, WBZC 88.9 Radio
Number 1 College Radio Station in America '95-'96
"I listened to the CD which you sent me. It was a pleasure. The two of you have not only captured the sound of the Fabs but their spirit as well, not an easy thing to accomplish. Great songs, expert musicianship and terrific production, the Beaten Path can't be beat!! I will play your work on a regular basis on my show ... also, where can I have my listeners get a copy of the CD if they so desire?"
Hartmut & Evelyn Schwarz
Beatlemania Magazine (Issue 85)
Erfurt, Germany
"How would the Beatles have sounded after a reunion of the band today? "Beaten Path" tries to give an answer; no covered songs, but in the style of The Rutles all newly composed songs. For fans of those new/old sounds this recording is a real listening pleasure. The songs cover you like oil (german idiom, meaning warm and positive), very near the original sound, but very new."
David and Tom have appeared on TV three times since October and have been interviewed on radio nine times. |
