Press Reviews
***** "If Carly Simon and Janice Ian met the Indigo Girls in the 90's, I think they might call themselves Amelia's Dream. The band
combines sensitive lyrics similar to Ian's and vocals like Simon's with a touch of The Indigo's. From the first song it is evident that
a lot of creative genius was utilized on this production, and you are touched by the band's mix of talented song-writing and lovely
mezzo-soprano vocals. Amelia's Dream carries a message of life going astray, love, and experience. The strong songwriting is
further embellished with emotional lyrics such as: "And her baby's crying for food to eat/And her best friend's dying down the
street/She'll probably get shot in a day or two/Well if I lived her life what the hell would I do?" You cannot help but notice the
emotion, delivered in each song with crisp precision. All the arrangements are very clean and the music is very tight, almost a bit
folksy. It is also comprised of a mellow/moody acoustic flavor familiar to such artists as Tracy Chapman and the aforementioned
Indigo Girls. While the drums and bass are prevalent, they stay in the background, adding a somber richness. this CD is a striking
example of talent not yet signed to a major label. Hopefully someone in the "majors" will get a listen to Amelia's Dream and share
their dream with the rest of us." -- Lisa Smith The Nebula Music Magazine |
