Artist description
Diamond 5 (aka Toxic Lepricons). Since their creation in 1998, this band hit the seen like a run away bull moose until 2001, when the band members went their seperate ways. Headed by then 18 year old musicians Matthew Haglund and Matthew "Dr. Beat" Johnson, this amazing band played nothing but their own written music (and it is amazingly good). When asked about the pressure of writting and performing good music (and having school to contend with besides), lead guitarist Sean Hutchison said, "It's bloody tough, but being famous, and being heard is what we're about." The band was described by many to be the next Aerosmith, Diamond 5 wrote every thing from power balleds to raprock. With a groove all their own, placed there by then 18 year old bassist Ian Olsen (who'd been playing since he was 4), D5 split with many unrecorded, yet very good songs. The band broke up in 2001 without recording a full album. |

Artist History
Diamond 5, as it is thought of today, was created in the fall of 1998 when lead guitar player Jon Gray and bassist Mike Barkman joined up with singer Matthew Haglund and drummer Matthew "Dr.Beat" Johnson of Teratoid. These four made up what is considered the "Classic Diamond 5", creating such hits as "Something I Can't Ignore", "Holding Out", and the groundbreaking hit, "One Man". In November of 1999, Mike was replaced by bass-prodigy Ian Olson. With Ian laying down a foundation Diamond 5 had only dreamed of, the band enter the "Golden Age of Dyma". During this period, songs such as "Last Lament", "Kinky Love" and "Forever Nothing" were released, truly showing the band's potential. The bulk of Diamond 5's work was also written during this period with Jon Gray, notwithstanding the fact that most was not released until Sean Hutchison took over Jon's role as lead guitarist in the spring of 2000. "Road to Marrakech", "Love Wrecked" and "Strain" were amorously greeted by the public. In the summer of 2001, the members of D5 disbanded, having never recorded a full studio album. Rumors of a reunion have run rampant, but Diamond 5 neither confirms nor denies the speculations. Maybe the future with see the huge D5 song collection committed to record. For now, both Sean Hutchison and Matthew Haglund are perusing solo careers. |
