Artist description
Multi-Instrumentalist Jermaine Rand’s debut harnesses the collective conscious and power of the muse to charge through an emotional, focused and expansive trip through the human mind and soul – ten instinctive tracks of passion, power and just about every other emotion you can think of. From the atmospheric soundscapes of 'Euphoria' and tripped out funk of 'Fool's Gold', to the raw power and guitar pyrotechnics of 'Mother America', 'Until Then' and emotional 'Chameleon', Rand has mastered a timeless collection showcasing a multitude of distinctive touches, soul felt vocals and shifting emotions personified through his songs. The lyrics, all written by Rand, are chiefly stories and life experiences that touch the listener and keep the ear mesmerized until the very last note. There is a definite thread between this masterpiece and the musician-songwriter Jermaine Rand’s impressive history – an experience unlike any other. |

Artist History
"Music is one of the most powerful forms of communication in the world," according to Atlanta based Guitarist/Songwriter Jermaine Rand. After listening to Rand's self-titled solo debut, music appears to be more of a life force than a means of communication. Oddly enough, Jermaine composed, produced, arranged, and performed almost every note on the project. Born into a family with an immensely rich musical background, Jermaine studied and played a broad range of instruments early on in life. "My mother is a gospel singer that also played drums and guitar. I spent a lot of time on the road with her when I was growing up." The artist confesses, "Almost everyone in my family plays or sings. I'm pretty much a product of my environment." However, Jermaine cites his grandfather as the most influential musical figure in his life. According to Jermaine, "This album represents a collective of personalities and the different aspects of the human psyche. The music creates itself. The songs are gifts presented to you. You just have to be open and aware enough to accept them. I am just trying to reach a space where the music, myself and the instruments are one and the same."Rand has spent the past few years touring the east coast extensively in various bands and projects. After re-locating to Atlanta, the guitarist has performed or recorded with an eclectic mix of artists such as Dionne Farris (Columbia), Public Enemy (Confrontation Camp), Cee-lo (Goodie Mob), Esperanza (La Face), Earl Hudson (The Bad Brains/ Soul Brains), Vann Hunt (Freeworld Entertainment), Clutch (Columbia) and Corey Glover (Living Colour). In addition to performing in pretty much every major city on the east coast, the artist has also performed in several major music festivals such as The Route One Music Conference, The Montreux Music Festival, and Music Midtown along with such notables as Ben Harper, Everclear, Destiny's Child, The Goo Goo Dolls, Joshua Redmond, Isaac Hayes, Fishbone, Mos Def and Widespread Panic. |

Press Reviews
"Ranging from raucous to reflective, guitarist/songwriter RAND has a style that could be described as heavy soul. RAND's work with acts as disparate Dionne Farris and Public Enemy (Confrontation Camp) comes through on his self-titled solo debut." ------Hutchinson (Creative Loafing, Atlanta. GA) "Drawing on a host of influences ranging from the stellar emotional catharisis of Jeff Buckley, electric guitar pyrotechnics of Hendrix, to the raw chaos of Jane's Addiction. Jermaine Rand's debut album, presents the artist in an intensely riveting and emotional rollercoaster."-----Magic Bus Music Forum "Jermaine Rand's music could be used as the definition of what I call SoulRock. Rand's excellent guitar work and funky riffs mesh with a rock attitude. The result is a soulful rock cornucopia." -------Christopher Van Loan (Soul Rock Online) |
