Artist History
It all started back in the very late 90’s when four young muso’s combined their raw talents to bring to life rock band “The Good”. Now with the release of their first C.D. in the new millennium year the band is hitting the Hunter’s local gig scene in force and quickly finding a following with their unique sound backed to popular music. |

Group Members
Reuben Andrew – His musical and cultural heritage, having been handed to him from his mother (country and western singer Auriel Andrew), has been a great influence on his guitar and didgeridoo playing. Reuben continues to pass on this cultural recognition by teaching in Hunter region schools to increase the understanding and awareness of the Aboriginal culture.Heather Barnes – Heather was selected from a national talent search undertaken by Krell records in 1998, but chose to pursue her interests in current band “The Good”. Daughter of Jennifer Barnes, one of Australia’s finest opera singers, Heather has inherited fine vocal skills, resulting in the band’s unique vocal texture. Heather is currently studying Double Bass at Newcastle Conservatorium.Dean Gearing – Dean has played drums since the age of twelve, and has learned from top players such as Craig Rosevear (former “Screaming Jets” drummer) and Nick Cecire (local jazz drummer). The benefits of Dean’s training had clearly paid off when he won the “Muso’s Corner Drum Challenge” in 1996 and again the following year, voted best ensemble player in the same competition. Dean has written and played in bands with Gareth since the age of 15.Gareth Hudson – A stream of influences from “The Beatles” and Stevie Wonder through to Macy Gray and John Cleary, have inspired Gareth to strive for a fresh sound within a popular idiom. As a trained classical pianist, Gareth is continuing his studies at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music. However, his talents are more wide ranging, and on recordings he plays keyboards, guitar, sings lead vocals and loves to whistle! |
