Artist description
Stylistically Thus Defiled create an epic soundscape of a depth and feel most bands cannot hope to attain; a majestic sybiosis of intricate, enrapturing guitar harmonies set against an ever present air of brooding malevolence. Added to this, the dynamic use of haunting and evocative keyboard passages combine to create an overall sound that is both bewitching and sinister; a conjuration of majestic darkness. |

Artist History
Thus Defiled were originally formed in 1992 with the aim of creating some of the most intense and dynamic yet original black metal within the extreme music scene. Though ten years of evolution the band no longer remain strictly within the narrow parameters of black metal, but still hold true to their original metal roots, and continue to create their own style of metal.
Thus Defiled built up a successful following in the 90’s and as such released 2 acclaimed albums.
“Through The Impure Veil of Dawn”.
“Wings Of the Nightstorm”.
From the strength of these two releases the band gained an impressive array of support slots, as well as headline shows both in the U.K. and abroad. These included gigs with bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Moonspell, Immolation, Ancient Rites, Dissection etc. The pinnacle of achievement during these years was a coveted support slot with Cradle of Filth at the Astoria, London.
It was not long after this that two of the bands members left. However, two new members were found in the shape of Paul F and Rob V. The band then set about writing and rehearsing new material. This material had a more progressive edge to it, although the material was still very dark in essence.
In 2001 the band entered Phillia studios with Dave Chang at the helm, and recorded “Fire Serpent Dawn”. This was only released as a promo disc for labels, however one track “Of Shadow And Storm” did feature on the “Britannia Infernus” compilation CD, which boasted acts such as Black Sabbath, Venom and Cradle of Filth.
Since the recording of “Fire Serpent Dawn” the band have been playing various live dates. These have ranged from support slots with Desecration and Yattering to headline shows with several up and coming bands such as Solace Denied and The Enchanted.
Currently Thus Defiled are in the final stages of contract negotiations with one of the UK’s biggest extreme metal labels, and are working on new material for their next album.
