Artist History
The trio is made up of Corrie (the youngest daughter), Becky (the oldest daughter), and Kathy (the mom) Duncan. The D’s 3 began like only the true superstars of today did--by chance and pure luck. It all started in 1994 when Corrie came home from school (she was still in High School) with great excitement, declaring, “Mom, Chorus Class is doing a Spring Variety Show instead of a play this year, and it’s open to the community since they don’t have enough kids.” The D’s 3 volunteered their services in rural Illinois to fill the bill. They were presented as a mother-daughter trio singing a tribute to the Andrews Sisters, and sang Beer Barrel Polka and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. The trio was an instant hit with the audience. Soon afterward, they were asked to sing at other community events. The word spread and a local radio station encouraged the trio to put a program together. One day Becky spotted an ad for talent auditions in the local newspaper placed by a Nashville Talent Scout. The scout was so impressed with the sound of the trio, he signed them immediately to appear on a Nashville talent show, where a producer asked them to record an album, American Treasures. That recording was then submitted to the Academy of Independent Recording Artists (AIRA), and in turn The D’s 3 were requested to perform at the AIRA Awards Show, which was a dedication to the Andrews Sisters. The D’s 3 were nominated for eight (8) awards, both in pop and country categories, and walked off with five (5) wins--Group of the Year, Vocal Performance of the Year, Album of the Year (both National and International), and Song of the Year (Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen). Also, The D’s 3 were honored their version of Take Me Out To The Ball Game was one of three played in the baseball venue to over one million spectators during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA.In 1997, The D’s 3 formed their parent corporation, KBC Enterprises, Ltd., and recorded their second album, Near You, under KBC Records. The album was a huge success with radio and top industry professionals alike and is still being played on over 1000 radio stations nationwide. The D’s 3 current release, Sing! Sing! Sing!, brings out the very best of the trio’s ability to interpret jazz and swing music. Their distinct family harmony shines throughout the album with jazz tunes such as Tuxedo Junction, Hold Tight! Hold Tight!, Well All Right, and the title song. Sing! Sing! Sing! is the album for swing lovers. In Spring ‘99, the girls finished up a Borders Books, Music, & Cafe tour that covered Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. The D’s 3, along with the U of I Jazz Band and forty dance couples, had fun with their 90 minute PBS Television Special, “Let’s Swing!” The project was a joint effort between the University of Illinois WILL-TV and The D’s 3 Music Foundation and had its premiere viewing during the PBS Spring Fund Drive. (It is available to other PBS stations upon request.) Today The D’s 3 perform with their own band, as well as others, including The One & Only Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, conducted by Buddy Morrow, appearing at distinquished establishments such as Busch Gardens-Tampa, FL. Currently, the trio travels nationwide performing for audiences of all ages. |
