Press Reviews
Thanatos of Solomon Dean wrote: ¨I gave a careful listen to both the original version of "White Gloves" and its acoustic counterpart.Immediately I was struck by the unique down ward-spiraling chord progression, conveying an image of a dried, dead autumn leaf drifting and swirling in its descent from the tree on which it once grew. The chorus is just as evocative, the repeated crashing punctuation of the cymbals and drums carry the consistently slow and lulling rhythm of the guitars while the repeated lyric, "it might just go away," haunts the ear. The picture is that of a little child sitting in the dark, arms wrapped around him/her, and rocking back and forth in a semi-catatonic trance. The acoustic version is an intriguing rendition, re-capturing and making even more poignant the intangible haunting sadness of the song. Good fucking work, Sin. The mood is thick and striking. It is often difficult to match musical mood with the lyrical subject matter. Not a technical process but rather an ephemeral emotional-distillation. That's art for you, man.¨ -www.mp3.com/solomondean |
