Artist History
Shad first met in high school. The group consisted of Matthew Shad on guitar and vocals, Tony DiGirolamo on bass and Dan Slyker on Drums. The group's music was a mix of classic rock, pop and heavy metal. They played parties, small clubs and school events under the name Chaos. After graduation the band went on hold because the members went in three different directions - Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa and Boston. This made playing together a little difficult. In 1994, Matthew Shad founded the group SHAD, named after his late grandfather Morton Shad. The group played many of the area's rock hot spots - The Button South, The Edge, The Squeeze, Roses on South Beach, The Plus Five, Mars Bar and Gary's Sports Bar. While playing the club scene in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, the group went through several lineup changes. Finally, in 1997, Matthew was able to get the original Chaos back together. The music felt right again with the original members in place, it was time to record.Recording has become Shad's main goal over the last two years. However, during that time they managed to get airplay several times on 94.9 ZETA's local music show and play charity events. Shad has also been able to get several writeups in publications such as Jam and the Showtime section of the Sun Sentinel |

Press Reviews
Small budget recording making nice noiseby Adrian GloverThe making of an independant record is often done on a budget smaller than the price of the average engagement ring. When a band or artist manages to overcome obvious creative limitations and delivers their point, it's definately worth mentioning here.In the case of Matthew Shad and the trio that runs by his surname, rock is the way. During the LP's nine-song run, shades of '80's metal riffs, gang choruses and vocals take center stage. There's definately a market in the area for upbeat romps such as Swear to God and the hook-filled Fool.
