Artist description
Sap, is a five piece emotionally driven hardcore rock band that was formed in 1996, out of Vallejo, California. The band has played shows around the San Francisco Bay Area in venues such as the Petaluma Phoenix Theatre, Lindees Bar and Grill, the Benicia Vet’s Hall, The Concord Depot, and the Pleasant Hill Community Center thus developing a nice following and gaining plenty of exposure. They have had the pleasure of performing with such bands as Papa Roach, Tribal Disco Noise, Fingertight, Disrup, Doomfinger, 26mph, Red Top Road, and Skribble. In late 1998, the group experienced some major complications and was forced to seperate. While seperated, the members pursued different projects, including another band called 12th. of Never. But a year and a half later , 4 out of 5 of the original members have reunited along with a new member and old friend.
Sap’s current lineup reads: Nathan Sloan, a.k.a. Wrath, Vocals, whose previous bands include: Euphoria, Mother Illness, and 12th. of Never. Sean Lucas, a.k.a. Fear, Guitars, whose prior projects are: Euphoria, Blue Hippo, and 12th. of Never. Jason LaMar, a.k.a. Sin, Guitars, whose past groups are: Blue Hippo, Strychnine, and Unlucky Pedestrians. Ian Richwine, a.k.a. Pain, Bass, has played in the past with Blue Hippo, JarSlam, and 12th. of Never. And recent addition Ken Quinones, Drums, who has previously worked with such groups as: Crossroads, Zero hour, and Solace, all in the Chico/Sacramento area.
Having reunited in June of 2000, the group has spent a lot of time revising some of the classic Sap songs along with creating a whole new batch of songs to unleash on all of their fans. Feedback from the fans has been overwhelmingly positive, with songs available on mp3.com and Iuma.com. The band has also received attention from a Webzine called Dynamic Rock, who reviewed the band, and had nothing but great things to say. The group has come back together with a new focus and drive, to bring their own brand of music back to the masses. With influences ranging from bands in the harder vein of rock like Deftones, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, and Marilyn Manson to other musical influences such as Tori Amos, The Police, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Bjork. The group fuses hard-edged rock with melodic and emotional undertones to create a tapestry of sounds.
Having released their first album as of mid 2001, and creating an official website at http://sap.gq.nu, the band has garnered some attention, but is focusing on getting out and playing more shows. With new songs coming quickly, and the overall strength of the band constantly increasing, the band is showing that they intend on living up to their potential. Also the band has decided to bring back their acoustic side, with the resurrection of the 12th. of Never material as a part of the new SAP. So we can expect to see a new and creative band striving for great things.

Artist History
Sap was formed in 1996, and was originally a hardcore band. Having developed a strong following, the band saw a lot of exposure, until a turn of events caused the break-up of the group. After the remaining members got together and worked on some other projects, they have reformed with a new spirit and intensity to bring Sap to a new, stronger level. |
