Artist description Ralph Johnson writes, performs and records his own alternative country music, in the tradition running from the Carter Family to Neil Young, with a dose of post punk attitude. A founding member of Philadelphia's Rolling Hayseeds, Johnson has performed with talents such as Bag of Hammers, the Knife and Fork Band, and Cheri Knight. This music is "alternative" in the original sense that it is created without regard to popular trends or critical opinion - a form of musical luddism.
