Artist description
Impovisational sound constructions employing live loop recording and manipulation. My background is in the visual fine arts, and I approach my music with the same goals I demand out of my others mediums: to challenge both myself and my audience with work that extends our senses. The majority of my sound work involves looping, a method of building a repeating musical phrase through either a physical tape loop, or through dedicated hardware. Looping allows my to build what I call a 'sonic conversation', with each note that I play repeating back to me every few seconds, and my responding to that repeated note with yet another. Choosing to place an intentional delay on the repeat (so I cannot hear my live notes added to the loop in real-time) opens the musical composition up to the laws of chance, and makes the single-take nature of my costructions all the more interesting and unexpected. |
