Artist History
Born and raised in a family noted for its contribution to the world of art, Esha, even as a child of nine, showed a natural inclination to music. A creative family atmosphere and a melodious voice proved congenial to initiation in training which later crystallized into rigorous talim under reputed masters. She has performed credibly in a number of classical music concerts for prestigious organizations including Sutanuti Parishad, Bhowanipur Sangit Sammilani, Jhankar Music Circle, Aurobindo Institute of Culture, Govt. College of Fine Arts & Craft and has made her mark as a promising young vocalist. She has also performed for Calcutta Television. Esha's sterling performances in India paved way for her debut in the international arena in June 1999, when she was invited by the University of Toronto to lend her voice on the occasion of Bangla Mela. A hectic concert tour in Canada featuring 16 concerts in 2 months proved that Indian Vocal Music is no less popular than the instrumental version in North America. The Consulate General of India invited Esha to flag off the curtain-raiser of the Independence Festival. Music lovers of eastern Canada were treated to Esha's music through a radio interview prior to a concert for the renowned Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. Offering to share her musical talent with aspiring students, she founded 'Shaili', and academy of music, dance, painting and crafts. As principal and vocal music teacher, she has contributed significantly to the growing reputation of 'Shaili'. |
